This file provides a brief overview of the folders and files on this disk.
 
Before You Begin
If you are not already configured for Shockwave, open the Shockwave Software folder on this CD and launch the Shockwave installer (PPC or 68K). The Shockwave version included on this CD is version 9 for Macintosh. You may want to check Macromedia's Web site (www.macromedia.com) to confirm that you have the latest version. For optimal performance, you should have 10MB minimum free RAM, and your Web browser's memory partition should be set to a minimum of 9,000K. Please set your display to 8-bit, 256 colors.
IMPORTANT! Remember that files with an .htm or .html extension can be opened by text editors (such as SimpleText and BBEdit) or by Web browsers (such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer). If you wish to view HTML source code, open an .html file using a text editor or drag and drop the file onto the text editor's application icon. If you wish to view an .html document as a Web page, launch your Web browser and choose Open File from the File menu or drag and drop the file onto the Web browser's application icon.
 
The Weblinks folder contains Bookmarks files for Navigator and Internet Explorer that include links to the various areas of www.shockingtheweb.com, and links to examples and movies referenced throughout the book.
 
This HTML page provides links to all of the Shockwave movies on the CD for offline viewing.
 
The Chapter Tutorials folder contains example movies referenced throughout the book chapters, including simple Lingo command movies, a Lingo tutorial movie, and Shockwave movies that provide examples of net Lingo scripts and media design and creation techniques. HTML, Shockwave movies, and source Director movies for Case Study and Developer Gallery Chapters 10 through 18 also are included in this folder.
 
Software demo versions of Macromedia Director, Authorware, Xres, FreeHand, Fontographer, SoundEdit16, Deck II, Extreme3D, Backstage, and Action. Also includes Equilibrium DeBabelizer Lite and Andromeda Filters.
 
Macromedia Shockwave plug-ins for Director, Authorware, xRes, FreeHand, and SoundEdit16. Afterburner Xtra for Director also is included.
 
The Resources folder contains the EarshotSFX sound library sampler that features over 25MB of royalty-free sound effects; the Direct Loops demo, which includes 20 royalty-free music loops; additional resources include the audiosyncrasy sound design demo, ViewPoint 3D model sampler, Adobe ImageClub Library sampler, CMCD digital photographs and Shockwave animations from PhotoDisc, g/matter, inc. multimedia product catalog, which includes 24 runtime Killer Transitions Xtras for Director, plus a variety of Web authoring utilities.
